These nozzles are used in crossflow cooling towers that have combustible fill sections. These nozzles discharge water in a relatively narrow, elongated spray pattern. The Type 2 nozzle is designed for use in crossflow cooling towers without diffusion decks. It is oriented at a slightly lower angle than a Type 1 nozzle to produce a more divergent vertical spray pattern. This type of spray pattern is required in crossflow cooling towers without diffusion decks.
